Welcome to the Michigan Student Power Alliance!
-
⟡ Michigan Student Power Alliance (est. 2014) is an intergenerational network that cultivates relational organizing, education, and a vast spectrum of care to sustain radical youth movements. ⟡
-
⟡ Our team of former + current higher-ed students in Michigan work together to develop community programming, workshops, and educational resources to boost awareness + connection surrounding local people's movements ⟡
MSPA is a hub for radical youth activism, existing within a broader statewide ecosystem of grassroots, progressive student organizers, working to connect student struggles across higher education campuses, issues, and identities to build a powerful youth movement that will enact change.
Since our inception in 2014, when MSPA started as an informal network of student organizers (i.e., Michigan Student Power Network), we have undergone several structural transformations but continue to be the only statewide organization led by youth (including both staff and Board) dedicated to providing comprehensive training, mentorship and paid, relational-organizing opportunities for students on colleges and university campuses and in broader communities across Michigan.
Our organization has utilized a multifaceted approach to organizing and engaging with our base. We have hosted student organizing summits, organized direct actions, created voter guides during election seasons, funded short programs including guerilla gardening, and facilitated statewide issue campaigns with coalitions of progressive groups building with students and youth.
MSPA exists to create spaces and build specific skills for youth organizers to sustain anti-oppressive issue campaigns to win transformational change for their communities.
